Toyo Tires was created in Japan in the summer of 1945 by Mr Rikimatsu Tomihisa. Since then, the company has built a solid reputation for the design and manufacture of innovative high-quality tyres throughout Europe, America, Asia and the Middle East. The company has received acclaim from numerous car magazines around the world, and has been named the number one brand by American car tyre dealers an astonishing seven times in the years since 2000.
Toyo specialises in the design and manufacture of tyres for SUVs and 4x4s. Since the new millennium, the company has focussed on creating high-performance tyres with a large rim diameter and a low profile, making them a popular choice for motor sports enthusiasts. It is renowned for its Proxes range of high-performance tyres, which are carefully designed to aid motoring in a variety of road conditions, ensuring excellent road holding and unsurpassed grip. Known as a driver's tyre, the Proxes range boasts great cornering capabilities, making it a top choice for a variety of motor sports. The Proxes R36 remains true to the brand's original design brief, delivering a high-performance tyre that enhances the driving experience.
The Toyo R36 car tyre was specifically designed for the specifications of the Mazda CX-5, which is a popular compact SUV and introduced the concept of SKYACTIV technology. This was created to offer the driver enhanced handling and greater stability whilst at the same time boosting fuel economy and ensuring lower emissions. Mazda were looking for tyres that could deliver the required levels of durability and agility whilst being true to the Mazda goal of creating movement that is beautiful but efficient.
All Toyo tyres are rigorously tested to exacting standards to ensure that they perform at optimum levels throughout their lives. T-Mode technology makes use of computer simulations to test tyres under a variety of virtual driving conditions. After analysing tread wear and noise generation, the data helps to drive tyre design technology to further enhance performance.
Toyo Proxes R36 tyres also feature silent wall technology, which uses perpendicular serrations to disturb the air flow - this cuts down on noise. The tyres also feature multi-wave sipes within the shoulder blocks, as this increases the amount of tyre tread in contact with the surface of the road. This ensures enhanced performance in wet and dry conditions and leads to more even wearing of the tyre over time.
The Toyo R36 tyres offer superb road handling, performance, safety and fuel efficiency. The R36 has also been designed to resist aquaplaning on wet roads and to provide both a sharp steering response and a very high level of grip when cornering.
Whether you use your vehicle for off-roading, sports trials, motorway commuting, or a combination of different uses, these tyres will ensure a responsive, enjoyable ride, low noise, fuel efficiency and perfect grip when cornering or braking in wet conditions.
Not sure whether it's time for new tyres? Don't take chances. After all, tyres are the only part of the vehicle that actually has contact with the surface of the road. For this reason, there's a body of law devoted to tyre safety. It's not just your welfare that's at stake either - you mustn't drive on worn or damaged tyres and its always important to have the tyre correctly inflated, using the tyre pressure recommended by the manufacturer.
"Fit for purpose" tyres
Your tyres also have to be what the Department of Transport calls "fit for purpose". That means that all four tyres need to be compatible with each other, and you can't have tyres of different sizes on the same axle. The tyres themselves need to be free of any bulges, tears, lumps or bumps that would indicate the tyre structure is failing. Cuts or tears have a maximum 25mm size, and if the cord or ply of the tyre are within the cut area - that's not fit for purpose. Staying with the cord or ply - if they're exposed in any way, that's not acceptable. Any of these faults will lead to an MOT failure.
