Skoda Service

Skoda runs the same two service regimes as the rest of the Volkswagen Group, and which one your car follows changes both the interval and the oil that goes in it. Fixed servicing suits lower mileage and stop-start town use. Flexible, or LongLife, stretches further on cars covering steady motorway miles. The regime is set in the vehicle software rather than chosen at the counter.

Protyre services Skodas at over 190 centres nationwide, with OEM parts fitted and guaranteed and every check recorded. Block exemption rules mean an independent garage can maintain your Skoda without affecting the manufacturer warranty, provided the correct schedule is followed and matching-quality parts are used.

Fixed or LongLife, and why it matters

LongLife servicing only works with an oil built to survive a much longer drain interval. Put a fixed-interval grade into a LongLife car and its protective life is used up well before the service indicator appears. We confirm the regime and the approved specification from your registration before any work starts.

Two further items sit outside the annual service and account for most unwelcome surprises. The cambelt on many TSI and TDI engines has its own replacement interval, expressed in years as well as miles, so a low-mileage car can still be overdue. Wet-clutch DSG gearboxes need an oil and filter change at set intervals, and 4x4 models have a rear Haldex coupling with its own oil.

Skoda models we service

● Citigo and Fabia. Small cars on mostly urban journeys, where oil and filter condition matters most.

● Scala and Octavia, including Estate and vRS. The highest-mileage cars in the range, frequently used for private hire and business travel, so wheel alignment and tyre wear are checked as standard.

● Superb. Large saloon and estate covering long distances, with more braking hardware to assess.

● Kamiq, Karoq and Kodiaq. Heavier SUVs, often towing, so SUV tyres are matched to load and speed rating.

● Enyaq. Fully electric, so no oil service, but brake fluid, coolant, reduction gear oil, cabin filtration and high-voltage checks all still apply.

Skoda repair work we carry out

Skoda repair at our centres covers brakes, batteries, exhausts, suspension components, air conditioning and tyres alongside routine servicing. Anything identified during a service is explained and quoted before work goes ahead, and we will always show you what we have found.

Choosing a Skoda specialist or an independent garage

For servicing to the manufacturer schedule, brakes, tyres, batteries, exhausts, air conditioning and general repair work, our technicians cover Skoda properly and at considerably less than franchised dealer rates. Where a fault needs model-specific software or equipment beyond the scope of a national network, we will tell you rather than take the work on regardless.

Skoda MOT and service in one visit

Booking an MOT with the service saves a second trip and means advisories can be discussed while the car is still with us.

Delaying work rarely saves money overall, as what happens when you delay car servicing explains.

Tyres, servicing and MOTs in one place

● Car Tyres from budget to premium, including Falken, Dunlop, Michelin and Continental, with same day fitting on stocked sizes.

● Car Servicing to the manufacturer schedule for Skoda and every other make and model we cover.

● MOT Testing with honest reporting and repairs quoted before work starts.

Skoda servicing FAQs

Skoda engine servicing falls due annually or at a set mileage on the Fixed regime, and considerably later on LongLife. The regime is set in the vehicle software, so it is confirmed from your registration rather than assumed from the mileage.

Skoda oil specification depends on the engine, whether a particulate filter is fitted and which service regime the car follows. LongLife cars need an oil built for the longer drain interval, and using a fixed-interval grade instead shortens its protective life well before the next service is due.

A Skoda battery usually lasts several years, though stop-start models work it harder and use a specific AGM or EFB type. A replacement normally needs coding to the car so the charging strategy updates correctly.

Wet-clutch DSG units need an oil and filter change at set intervals, commonly around the 40,000-mile mark, while dry-clutch units use a sealed fill with a separate mechatronic supply. Which one is fitted depends on the engine and model year, so we confirm it from the registration.
