Porsche servicing intervals are longer than most owners expect, which is precisely why the calendar side of the schedule gets overlooked. A car covering 4,000 miles a year still needs its annual service, and brake fluid still needs renewing on time regardless of how little the car has moved.
Protyre services Porsches at over 190 centres nationwide, with qualified technicians and OEM parts fitted and guaranteed. Block exemption rules mean using an independent garage will not affect your manufacturer warranty, as long as the correct schedule is followed and parts of matching quality are used.
The schedule alternates between a minor and a major service, with additional items such as spark plugs, air filters, brake fluid and coolant falling on their own longer cycles. Brake fluid is the one most often missed on a low-mileage car, since it absorbs moisture from the air whether the vehicle is driven or not.
Low annual mileage brings its own issues. Tyres age and harden regardless of tread depth, discs corrode when a car sits, and batteries discharge. A garage-kept weekend car often needs more attention to these than a daily driver covering three times the miles.
Porsche develops tyres jointly with manufacturers and marks the approved fitments N0, N1, N2 and so on, with the number indicating the generation of that specification. The approval reflects work on handling balance, steering response and high-speed stability for that particular chassis.
You are not obliged to fit an N-rated tyre, and there are excellent alternatives. On a 911 or 718 in particular it is worth knowing what was originally specified before changing, since the front and rear fitments are developed as a pair. Our teams will talk through the options across car tyres before you commit.
● 911 and 718 Cayman and Boxster. Often low mileage and garage kept, where fluid age and tyre age matter more than the odometer.
● Macan and Cayenne. Heavier SUVs used daily, placing more demand on brakes, suspension and SUV tyres.
● Panamera. Large saloon with substantial braking hardware and, on many cars, air suspension to inspect.
● Taycan. Fully electric, so no oil service, but brake fluid, coolant, reduction gear oil, cabin filtration and high-voltage checks all still apply. Light use of the friction brakes means disc condition deserves attention.
Porsche repair work at our centres covers brakes, batteries, exhausts, suspension components, air conditioning and tyres alongside routine servicing. Anything identified during a service is explained and quoted before work goes ahead.
One honest note on brakes. If your car is fitted with carbon ceramic discs, replacement parts are considerably more expensive than steel and the assessment criteria are different. We will measure and report condition, and if specialist attention is the sensible route we will say so.
Worth being clear about where we fit. For servicing to the manufacturer schedule, brakes, tyres, batteries, exhausts, air conditioning and general repair work, our technicians cover Porsche properly at considerably less than franchised dealer rates.
For engine rebuild work, motorsport preparation or involved model-specific diagnostics, a marque specialist will have equipment and model history that a national network does not. We would rather point you there than take on work we cannot complete to the standard the car deserves.
Adding an MOT to the same appointment saves a second trip and lets advisories be discussed while the car is with us. Useful on a low-mileage car, where disc corrosion and tyre age are the most common advisory items.
● Car Tyres including performance fitments from Michelin, Continental, Dunlop and Falken, with same day fitting on stocked sizes.
● Car Servicing to the manufacturer schedule for Porsche and every other make and model we cover.
● MOT Testing with honest reporting and repairs quoted before work starts.

Porsche engine oil intervals are usually annual or mileage based, whichever comes first, and the approved specification differs between flat-six, V6, V8 and four-cylinder units. On a low-mileage car the annual element is what triggers the change, since oil degrades with time as well as use.
Porsche exhaust work is carried out at our centres, from corrosion on older cars to sensor and particulate filter faults on newer models. A warning light relating to the exhaust does not always mean full replacement, so we diagnose the specific fault before quoting.
A Porsche battery is often shortened by the car standing rather than by mileage, which is why weekend cars tend to need replacements sooner than daily drivers. A trickle charger helps considerably. Replacement batteries usually need coding to the vehicle so the charging strategy is set correctly.
Between services, Porsche maintenance mostly comes down to tyre pressures and tyre age, brake condition and keeping the battery charged if the car is stored. A free tyre check and free brake check is available at any time.
