Land Rovers work harder than most of the vehicles they park next to. Kerb weight, permanent four-wheel drive, towing and, on many models, air suspension all add components that a conventional hatchback simply does not have. Servicing one properly means inspecting those systems, not just changing the oil and moving on.
Protyre services Land Rovers at over 190 centres nationwide, with qualified technicians and OEM parts fitted and guaranteed. Block exemption rules mean using an independent garage will not affect your manufacturer warranty, provided the correct schedule is followed and parts of matching quality are used.
Four-wheel drive brings its own maintenance. Transfer box and differential oils run to their own intervals rather than being renewed at every service, and on models with air suspension the compressor, air springs and ride height sensors all need assessing for leaks and wear. Neither item announces itself until it becomes expensive.
Oil specification matters more than on many vehicles. Some Ingenium engines drive ancillaries from a belt that runs in engine oil, which makes on-time oil changes with the correct approved grade part of that belt’s maintenance rather than a separate concern. Diesel models used mainly for short journeys also need their particulate filter status checked, since the filter may never reach the temperature required to regenerate cleanly.
● Defender. Working and recreational use alike, where suspension, brakes and tyre condition take the most punishment.
● Discovery and Discovery Sport. Frequently towing, which loads brakes, bushes and the cooling system harder than the mileage alone suggests.
● Range Rover and Range Rover Sport. Air suspension, large braking systems and extensive electronics, all covered by the inspection.
● Range Rover Velar and Evoque. Lighter than the full-size models but still heavy for their footprint, so SUV tyres and wheel alignment are checked as standard.
● Freelander. Older vehicles where corrosion, suspension condition and brake wear deserve closer scrutiny.
Petrol, diesel, mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid drivetrains are all catered for.
Land Rover repair is not limited to what appears on the service schedule. Brakes, batteries, exhausts, suspension components, air conditioning and tyres are all handled at our centres, and anything found during a service is explained and quoted before work begins.
Heavier vehicles wear brakes and suspension faster than most owners expect, particularly if the car tows or spends time on unmade roads. Worn bushes and tired dampers rarely fail outright, they simply degrade, so we report what we find and let you decide the timing.
It is worth being straight about this. For routine servicing to the manufacturer schedule, brakes, tyres, batteries, exhausts and general repair work, our technicians cover Land Rover properly and at considerably less than main dealer rates.
For deep work on model-specific systems, a full air suspension rebuild or an involved electronic architecture fault, a marque specialist or franchised dealer may have equipment and model history that an independent network does not. We will tell you plainly if your vehicle is better served elsewhere rather than take on work we cannot finish well.
Booking an MOT alongside the service saves a second trip and means advisories can be discussed while the vehicle is still with us.
Deferring maintenance rarely works out cheaper, as what happens when you delay car servicing explains.
● Car Tyres from budget to premium, including Falken, Dunlop, Michelin and Continental, with same day fitting on stocked sizes.
● Car Servicing to the manufacturer schedule for Land Rover and every other make and model we cover.
● MOT Testing with clear reporting and repairs quoted before any work starts.
Tread depth is measured against the 1.6mm legal minimum at every visit, and our free tyre check and free brake check cost nothing between services.

Land Rover engine oil intervals are usually annual or mileage based, whichever comes first, and vary between Ingenium, V6 and V8 units. Where an engine drives ancillaries from a belt running in oil, keeping to the interval with the correct approved grade matters more than on a conventional dry belt engine.
Routine Land Rover maintenance between full services means keeping an eye on tyre condition and pressures, brake wear and fluid levels. Given the weight these vehicles carry, our free tyre check and free brake check are worth using between visits rather than waiting for the annual service.
A Land Rover battery typically lasts several years, though stop-start systems and the electrical load on larger models shorten that. Most use an AGM battery matched to the vehicle’s power management, and a replacement needs registering to the car so the charging strategy updates correctly.
Land Rover diagnostic checks at our centres read fault codes across the engine, transmission, suspension and body systems. On a vehicle with air suspension and terrain management, a warning light can relate to several systems at once, so diagnosing the actual cause comes before any parts are ordered.
A Land Rover gearbox oil change is not part of the standard annual service but does fall due on its own interval, and the same applies to transfer box and differential oils on four-wheel drive models. Towing and heavy off-road use bring these forward. Ask us to check what is due for your model and mileage.
