Introducing Mercedes-Benz World

Mercedes-Benz is famous around the globe for its high end vehicles. Their automotive prestige is such that many of the world’s rich and powerful – including many governments – chose to be driven in the German manufacturer’s limousines and executive saloons.

And it’s not just the world’s statesmen and business elite that more often than not prefer a Mercedes-Benz. Across the globe, many of today’s wealthier individuals favour the high performance sports cars that the automotive manufacturer produces. It’s also the case with Mercedes-Benz SUVs, with their highly desirable G-Class acknowledged by many car aficionados as being the undoubted best in sector.

Looking back, who could have foreseen that from its initial vehicle offering in 1886 – the Benz Patent-Motorwagen, recognised as the world’s first true automobile – that Mercedes-Benz would grow to the point that today it has its own ‘world’? Yes, you read that correctly. World.

Welcome to Mercedes-Benz World

Located on the famous Brooklands site in Weybridge, Surrey, Mercedes-Benz World (MBW) is the company’s hi-tec visitor centre. Along with three floors of inspiring attractions, the facility – in partnership with leading premium tyre manufacturer, Continental – provides patrons with exclusive driving experiences, including putting their motoring skills to the test on one of motorsports’ most iconic racetracks.

Under the guidance of a dedicated team of professional drivers, the MBW experience also takes place over a 10 acre off-road course, featuring a fantastic range of Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-AMG vehicles. Of course AMG are well known to many of us, recognised throughout the UK for their extraordinary customisations of ‘standard’ Mercedes-Benz vehicles, and the production of some of the best high performance sports cars and SUVs around.

The power of three

A little know fact is that Continental design and manufacture more than just tyres for the global car sector. In fact Continental provide automotive safety techologies, braking systems, electronics for vehicle interiors, powertrains and chassis components, to name just some of their highly valued solutions. Their electronic driver aids are leading the charge towards an autonomous vehicle future. A lot of this cutting edge tech can be found throughout the Mercedes-Benz vehicle range, including those found at MBW.

But as any knowledgable driver already knows, a car is only as good as the tyres that are fitted to it. Without the right tyres, you’ll struggle to get the optimum best out of your vehicle, especially in the case of a high performance Mercedes-Benz customised by AMG. It should come as no surprise then to learn that many AMG vehicles sport Continental Original Equipment (OE).

This three way parnership in excellence provides an on-the-edge, optimal driving experience for Mercedes-AMG owners, with Continental’s award winning tyres working in complete unison with the vehicle. OE tyres are designed to bring out the best characteristics of the specific car make and model they’re manufactured for, and are bespoked to deliver optimum driving performance.

New Mercedes-AMGs are received by their owners fitted with a highly tuned variant of one of Continental’s leading premium tyres. Original Equipment is based on the mainstream versions typically fitted to many cars in the UK, but with a variety of subtle changes that bring out the best from a high-end sports car. OE tyres make all the difference. You’ll also find Continental OE fitted to nearly one in three new cars that leave the car factories of Europe.

It’s one of the reasons why the driving experience at Mercedes-Benz World – both off-road and on track – is done with Continental tyres. These experiences take place all year round, but some of the most popular periods with UK drivers are during the school holidays, when Continental work with Mercedes-Benz to offer free driving demonstrations.

Driving on the best helps you learn from the best

If you’re fortunate enough to have already experienced the free driving demonstration, you’ll appreciate what a difference fitting the right tyres to your vehicle can make, and how essential things like good tyre tread depth are to driver safety and vehicle performance. Unfortunately, tyre knowledge is often quite poor amongst many drivers, but not after someone completes the MBW driving experience! It leaves everyone that didn’t already know in no doubt as to just how vital having good tyres really is, and how significant they are for achieving shorter stopping distances.

An investment in excellence

British drivers that choose to purchase a Mercedes-Benz-AMG directly from MBW get more than just a superbly crafted and engineered car. New owners also get to experience a free AMG PERFORMANCE-Training half-day course. This takes place on the purpose-built track facilities at Mercedes-Benz World, and combine advanced driving theory with real track experience. As a result, these lucky drivers get to refine their performance driving skills, and explore the handling capabilities and characteristics of their vehicles in extreme conditions – all under the expert tutelage of the highly trained MBW driving team, and of course on Continental’s superb premium tyres.
