Jul

This year Tavistock Tyres – Team Protyre sponsored the Tavistock Specials Football Club for its 9th consecutive year. The club founded by local Allen Lewis in 2008 gives youngsters and adults with mental or physical impairments somewhere to play football.

Allen said: "We're changing lives. We've given people confidence. The friendships formed here are amazing."

Around 100 people attended the Tavistock Specials Football Club presentation night at the Red and Black Club including Protyre Area Manager Matthew Rowland who presented the players with awards throughout the night. Awards for Most Improved Player, Coaches’ Player, Players’ Player and Clubman were awarded as well as an Oscar Acting Award for diving which went to Jake Ridolls the first original member.

Tavistock Tyres – Team Protyre also received a beautiful thank you in the form of a plaque recognising the 9 years of sponsorship they have provided to the club.

Allen added on the night: ‘With the club boasting five teams now registered with the Devon FA and entered in the Devon Ability Counts leagues it was a great night with loads of laughs and thank yous.
A massive thank you to Tavistock Tyres who have sponsored the club since forming and the original spark with the Son-Rise story. We have a brilliant group of people.
We now have six weeks off before training starts again on September 8th, a week before the leagues kick off again at Coach Road, Newton Abbot. Again, well done to the clubs members, coaches, parents, supporters, carers, sponsors and the dedicated trustees and Tavistock Community Sports centre’.
