Harley-Davidson Night Rod

Motorcycle Tyres for my Harley-Davidson Night Rod Motorcycle

The Night Rod Special is powered by a liquid-cooled 1250cc, V-Twin 60 degree engine with dual overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder. Combined with the Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection, it delivers a typical growl and unbelievable power. It’s aimed at the rider who wants a no-nonsense bike and an aggressive riding position that’s reminiscent of drag bikes.

The rear tyre is huge and the rest of the profile is low and almost aggressive. The large tyre is a nod to dragster styling and enables the bike to use all the power that the engine generates. The exhaust is big, yet doesn’t look out of place in the overall design. It’s a double-barrel exhaust with dual mufflers in a brushed finish and it’s enhanced with black exhaust shields and end caps. The cylinder heads have machined cooling fin tips.

The power is provided by the liquid-cooled Revolution engine. It delivers an optimum mix of torque ( 84 lb-ft at 7000 rpm) and horsepower in true Harley-Davidson style.

Such a powerful engine requires plenty of advanced handling features. It starts with the inverted front forks to reduce the un-sprung weight of the bike and makes sure that the turning is both tight and responsive. The Brembo brakes slow you down when needed and the anti-lock brakes make a brake lock-up less likely.

Choosing the right tyres for the Harley-Davidson Night Rod

The Night Rod wheels draw inspiration from the design of performance sports cars. The front and rear wheels are black, split 5-spoke pinstripe in cast aluminium. The front wheel is 483 mm x 76 mm and the rear wheel is 457 mm x 203 mm. One recommended tyre for the front wheel would be the Michelin Scorcher “11” 120/70ZR-19 60W and for the rear wheel, it would be Michelin® Scorcher® “11” 240/40R-18 79V.

The Michelin Scorcher, made from the latest synthetic polymers, combines excellent grip with durability, due to the deep-cut tread design which dispels water efficiently.

The fat rear tyre gives you added grip, so that you can harness that explosive power and stay glued safely to the tarmac.
