Motorcycle Tyres for Ducati Hypermotard Motorcycle
The Ducati Hypermotard is a relatively new model from the Ducati stable, and was first seen in November 2005. Capable of reaching up to 125mph, most of its riders never look to attain those speeds, even on the track. The lack of any sort of screen and the upright riding position mean that the wind-blast at speeds much in excess of 100mph can be noticeable. Even so, this is not a bike for wallflowers. Whilst it's perfectly functional as a town bike and great fun for riding on open roads, it can be sensational on the track.
Choosing the Right Tyres for the Ducati Hypermotard
The standard tyres fitted to a Ducati Hypermotard motorcycle are Supercorsa SP rubber. Some users have reported that these wear out more quickly than is ideal, even when they are not being pushed to the limits of their performance on track days. For anyone looking for alternatives, there are several sporty tyres that could work well on this bike.
The Bridgestone Battlax S21 promises hugely improved performance in dry conditions and the same superb wet grip as the Battlax S20 EVO. It is also a very stable hypersport tyre, allowing for fast exits on both track and road. Finally, and not to be sniffed at, it is a very durable tyre. Reports suggests users get more than 30% more mileage from it than from earlier Bridgestones.
The Pirelli Diablo Rosso III is a hypersport tyre with excellent grip, courtesy of its large footprint. The handling is equally good and spot-on for sport bikes.
The Metzeler Sportec M7 RR is another exceptionally grippy hypersport tyre. It's also phenomenally stable at high speed and has great warm-up speeds, no matter how short the ride.
The makers of the hypersport Continental ContiSportAttack 3 have used Grip Limit Feedback technology to enable riders to work this tyre to its limit. The wet grip is excellent and, thanks to the tyre's composition from a single piece of rubber, there is no feeling of step when you corner.
