Protyre x Groupon Aircon FAQs
1. Will a regas fix my air con if it's completely stopped working?
Usually not. A sudden failure is most often a leak, faulty component, or electrical issue — none of which a regas can fix. Regas is a maintenance service for systems that are still working but no longer cooling as well as they used to. If your air con isn't working at all, book a free air con check at your local Protyre first to identify the cause.
2. How do I know if my car uses R134A or R1234YF gas?
Cars registered before 1 January 2017 almost always use R134A. Cars from 2017 onwards use R1234YF. If you're unsure, check your service manual or look for a sticker under the bonnet near the air con compressor — it will list the gas type. The two gases can't be swapped, so check before you book.
3. What are the signs I need a regas?
Warm air from the vents, weak airflow even on high, a damp or musty smell, or air con that takes longer than usual to cool. If your system is working but not as cold as it used to be, a regas is likely what you need.
4. Why should I replace my pollen filter?
The filter traps dust, pollen and road pollutants. Over time it clogs, reducing airflow and letting contaminants into the cabin. Replacing it keeps cabin air clean and airflow strong — particularly worthwhile if you suffer from hay fever or haven't had it changed in 2+ years.
5. How do I book my appointment?
To book your air‑conditioning service, simply choose your preferred Protyre centre from the list on this page. Once you’ve selected your location, give the centre a call to arrange your appointment.
Please note: Groupon customers must book by phone. Online booking is not available for this offer.
6. What if I want extra work done?
If your vehicle needs anything beyond the air‑con re‑gas, just speak with the team at your chosen Protyre centre when you arrive. They’ll assess any additional work, explain the costs, and carry it out only with your approval.
Please note: any extra work is charged separately and will be invoiced at the centre.
7. How does refunds work?
If you need a refund for your Groupon purchase, the process is simple:
· Service not carried out: If the work/service was not completed for any reason, you are eligible to request a refund.
· Change of mind: If you no longer need the service, you can also request a refund.
In both cases, please contact Groupon Support directly, as all payments are processed through Groupon. They will review your request and issue the refund where applicable.
