Protyre's Expert Car Diagnostics and Free Vehicle Checks

Modern cars are very different from old cars. Anyone used to be able to work on old cars themselves. Now, computers control how the car runs. The first sign of a problem is often a warning light on the dashboard.

Computers monitor the engine, brakes, and other main parts. They record error codes if something is wrong. This helps mechanics with diagnostic machines find issues. But dashboard warning lights don't help everyday drivers fix their own cars.

How Protyre Mechanics Diagnose Car Problems

Our qualified mechanics use the most up-to-date diagnostic tools. We connect to the car's computer to read error codes. This shows us what is causing the current problem. It also finds any problems that are starting, so we can fix them before you break down.

When we run diagnostics, we get details on performance and service history. We can check every part controlled by computer - engine, transmission, coils, exhaust, throttle, fuel injectors, oil, coolant system, and more.

This is helpful when your car acts odd but you don't know why. Or when a warning light comes on that could mean different things.

What to Do When a Dashboard Warning Light Comes On

Don't panic! Unless it indicates overheating, low oil pressure, or limp mode, keep driving carefully to a safe place to stop. Note which light is on and if it's steady or flashing.

Check what the light means in your owner's manual. It will suggest possible issues. Sometimes the light goes off after turning the car off and on. Often, a steady light means servicing is due or a part needs help for best performance.

But a flashing light usually means a failing part that needs quick repair to prevent breakdown. Driving with a known issue will make it worse and cost more to fix later.

Protyre's Affordable Diagnostic Testing

We offer quality testing starting at just £50 inclusive of VAT, no matter your vehicle size. With over 180 locations nationwide, there is likely a Protyre near you.

Book online or by phone. Our trained mechanics will explain the results and recommend fixes to improve performance and resolve faults.

Testing takes up to 90 minutes usually, depending on computer access, error codes, and investigation needed. Rarely it takes up to 3 hours. It's much faster than the old manual method of taking things apart to check individually.

Free Basic Vehicle Checks Also Available

If your car seems fine but you want an expert check before seasonal change, contact Protyre. We offer free checks of key safety features like lights, fluid levels, wipers, battery, etc.

Separate checks cover brakes, tyres, suspension, wheel alignment, exhaust, TPMS, and battery. We will investigate your concerns and provide helpful advice and options.

If checks show parts needing replacement, we can supply and fit new tyres same-day. We have many brands from budget to premium like Bridgestone and Pirelli. Our experts will help you choose the right tyres for your car and driving.
