The Toyota GT86 is a 2+2 sports car that is jointly produced by Toyota and Subaru. Inspired by Toyota’s earlier AE86, the 2+2 fastback coupe is famous for its rear drive/front engine configuration and its naturally aspirated boxer engine.
Primarily a sports car, the GT86 is all about fun on the road. There is only one engine - a 197bhp 2.0-litre four-cylinder that drives the rear wheels only and churns out 197bhp and 151lb ft. A six-speed manual comes as standard, although there is also a six-speed automatic on offer should you want it. The car is light on its feet and changes direction with ease.
The weight distribution of 53 per cent at the front and 47 per cent at the rear gives the car a slight front bias, which gives it better road handling.
Inside, the GT86 comes complete with low-set seats at the front, two small back seats that will easily accommodate children or shorter adults, and a decently sized boot. The steering wheel is the smallest ever attached to a Toyota.
