Porsche Taycan Tyres
The Porsche Taycan is the all new electric Tesla-beater from one of the most famous marques in motoring. Redefining the kind of performance to expect from an e-vehicle, this sleek and sassy beauty stunned the Frankfurt car show with its high-power turbo variants capable of 750bhp. It’s the kind of performance that no one expected to be offered by an electric car, even a top of the range Porsche.
This 4-door fastback is underpinned by Porsche’s own bespoke battery platform and is being marketed in direct competition with the Tesla S. The 93kWh battery powers the twin electric motors mounted over the front and back axle which, in turn, use synchronous magnetic technology for the ultimate power to weight ratio and superb performance.
Not only is the Porsche Taycan Turbo S capable of 124mph in less than 10 seconds and 0-60 in just 2.8 seconds, but it also claims a maximum range of 279 miles on a single charge. That can’t quite match the range of the Jaguar i-Pace and Tesla S, it’s closest competitors, but superfast charging means you can top up the battery by 80% in just 23 minutes.

New tyres for your Porsche Taycan
If the Taycan’s combination of brute power and performance with eco-friendly driving appeals to you, or you’re interested in trading in a petrol or diesel model to take advantage of emissions-free motoring, here are the things you need to think about when you’re choosing tyres for an e-car:
Safety: e-cars are typically heavier than petrol-driven cars and can take longer to stop, especially in wet and icy conditions
Rolling resistance: just like a petrol car, the rolling resistance of a tyre affects fuel performance. Tyres with lower rolling resistance let you travel further with a lower environmental impact
Comfort: as the range and performance of electric cars increases, choose a tyre that offers a quiet and comfortable long-distance ride
