It is regarded as the firm’s flagship SUV and it is produced in Audi’s Volkswagen Bratislava Plant.
 
Launched in 2018, the Q8 was a new design for the brand and is inspired by the Audi Quattro rally car from the 1980s. The car’s grill is larger with both horizontal and vertical slats and it features full-laser tail and headlamps - a first for a crossover or SUV. While the Q8 is shorter and lower than its Q7 sister, it has a wider body and so presents a rather more squat appearance, further engendering a sporty presence.
 
According to its creator, the Q8’s mission is to mix the comfort and versatility of an SUV with the luxury of a coupé.
 
The car comes with a 282bhp 3.0 litre ’50 TDI’ diesel and in 2019 onwards will come with the option of a 228bhp 45 TDI V6 diesel and a 335bhp 55 TFSI V6 turbo petrol. The Q8 is a heavy car weighing in (when fully fuelled) at 2285 kg. The car still manages an impressive 0-60mph in 6.9 secs with 30-70mph taking 6.7 secs.
 
Four-wheel drive is available as an option and the Q8 comes with adaptive air suspension which is sports tuned, in addition to 21-inch alloy wheels as standard. In the UK the car comes in two trims: S-Line and Vorsprung. The interior features a knob-less MMI system, three touchscreens as well as an enlarged virtual cockpit.
