What are the best tyres for my Dacia Duster?

By Julia Freeman

The Dacia Duster is a versatile and comfortable SUV with great safety features, reliable road performance and, with the right tyres, some off-road potential too.

Dacia Duster

The standard Duster tyre size is 215/65 R16 (we have also seen 215/60 R17 but never mix these tyres). Ideally all four tyres should be the same and in similar condition (especially on a 4x4). You can find plenty of great tyre options by using our tyre finder app, but some outstanding choices are outlined below.

Buy Tyres

The Continental Contact Range

Conti Contacts are a very popular choice, not least because Dacia fit them as standard equipment on most Duster versions. The Continental ContiCrossContact LX2 is a leading option but the Conti4x4Contact is a good alternative for 4x4 versions. Both variants will stand up to bit of rough terrain if you leave the tarmac, but they are summer tyres so look elsewhere if you anticipate mud, snow or ice.

SUV manufacturers clearly rate this tyre family highly. They are also fitted as standard on Honda CRV, Freelander, and VW Tignon, and often spotted on Land Rover Discovery, Volvo XC70 and the BMW X5.

The Bridgestone Dueler Range

This tyre family is another fantastic choice for the Duster. Bridgestone Duelers have a great reputation for road handling and off-road toughness. The family includes Duelers with very different tread patterns, so you can match your choice to your driving intentions. Definitely consider the Bridgestone Dueler HT 687 or for all-season ruggedness the Bridgestone Dueler AT 001.

You also often spot Bridgestone Duelers on the Toyota Hilux, Jeep Wrangler and Land Rover Defender.

The Pirelli Scorpion Verde Range

This is another tyre family that needs little introduction. The Pirelli Scorpion has been lauded as one of Pirelli’s best tyres for many years. The XL version of the Verde is likely to be the best all-year choice for a Duster but there is also an excellent Pirelli Scorpion Winter tyre if you live in a part of the country prone to extended periods of winter ice.

Other leading choices for the Duster include the Michelin Latitude Cross and the Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen 3. Often at a lower price point you could also consider the Falken Ziex ZE310 Ecorun or the Sumitomo BC100. Both are great all-rounders.

Where should I get tyres for my car?

Never from Ebay! Never even consider second-hand tyres or retreads. They are neither safe nor good value in the long run. Protyre are professional independent tyre suppliers, and we depend on our reputation. We only provide good value tyres and impartial advice, and tyre safety checks are always free at our garages. When you have identified your ideal tyre, use our garage finder to book your fitting at your nearest local Protyre garage.

Mobile fitting service

The epidemic lockdown has created concerns and difficulties for many people, so Protyre also offer a mobile tyre fitting service. Our qualified fitters can deliver your tyres and fit them at your home, workplace, or other convenient location. Contact your local Protyre centre for more information and to find out how to arrange for our mobile team to come to you.
