Save on All-Season Tyres with Protyre's Exclusive Offers

By Gareth Vrac

In the UK, more than half of UK motorists believe that they have all-season tyres fitted on their cars, whereas the reality is that less than 10% of cars have them. This means that a huge number of cars are being driven with tyres that may not be suitable for extreme winter conditions. When temperatures fall below 7 degrees Celsius, some summer tyres may struggle for grip and control.

All season Tyres

All-season tyres, also often referred to as all-weather tyres, remove the need to change tyres, but also give additional protection and safety all year round. Whilst they are able to deal efficiently with all types of conditions, they are not as 'targeted' as summer or winter tyres.

What properties do all-season tyres have?

All-season tyres are specifically designed to be able to cope with a variety of conditions. They tend to have a more flexible rubber compound than summer/winter tyres. This compound is less likely to harden, enabling better grip and performance to be maintained in colder conditions.

All-season tyres also have a different tread pattern than standard summer or winter models. They have wider and deeper grooves, a V-shaped pattern, and more sipes. All of these combine to improve water dispersal, enhance grip, and reduce the risk of aquaplaning when driving on wet surfaces.

Who makes all-season tyres?

Due to increasing demand, most brands now manufacture all-season tyres. This includes premium names such as Pirelli, Michelin, and Goodyear as well as lesser-known brands including Hankook, GT Radial, and Uniroyal. Protyre all-weather tyre offers are designed to give you maximum value.

Frequently Asked Questions

The main differences between all-season and winter/summer tyres are the compound that is used and their tread pattern. Both of these are engineered specifically to deal with a variety of conditions. All-season tyres can cope with temperatures ranging from -10 to +30 degrees Celsius.
