About Peugeot 206

The Peugeot 206 was produced in the UK by the French manufacturer Peugeot from 1998 to 2006. The only place where the 206 models are still in production is in Iran, by the company Iran Khodro. The 206 is the best selling Peugeot model ever with over 8 million cars sold in 2012.

The 206 was first released as a hatchback with petrol engines of 1.1, 1.4 and 1.6 litres in addition to a 1.9 litre diesel engine. In 1999 Peugeot added a 2.0 litre GTi to the range and later in 2003 an improved version known as the Peugeot 206 RC. In 2001 a further two versions were unveiled including the 206 CC (coupe convertible) with a folding steel roof and the 206 SW station wagon.

The Peugeot 206 has proved to be a perennially popular car and was the best selling car in Europe from 2001 to 2003. Sales in the UK were strong from the start with the 206 appearing regularly in lists of the top five most popular cars during its first six years on sale. Even today, second-hand vehicles continue to be in demand and are able to hold their value better than other vehicles because of this.

The car has won a number of accolades including awards such as the "Most Beautiful Car of the Year 1998" at the Festival Automobile International, the "Best Petrol Small Car" at the Fleet Excellence Awards of 2001, the "Best Convertible" at the What Car? Awards in 2001 and "Best Used Supermini", What Car? magazine, 2001.
