Protyre Bristol wins Pirelli Performance Centre of the Year Award 2007

Pirelli Tyres are delighted to announce that Protyre’s Bristol depot has been crowned Pirelli Performance Centre (PPC) of the Year for 2007. This inaugural award is the culmination of a four month assessment programme which included the PPC technical audit followed by an onsite video mystery shop. The PPC technical audit covers a wide spectrum of areas including working practices, standard and maintenance of equipment, housekeeping and procedures which pertain to tyre/wheel removal and replacement. In contrast the video mystery shop focused on the consumer experience and levels of customer service. A tyre dealer gaining PPC status can justifiably claim to be amongst the most professional in the UK as expectations are high and audit standards stringent.
Protyre Bristol fought off tough competition as the 45 depot PPC network was finally whittled down to three outstanding sites. The two other finalists, Tyres Northampton and Protyre Poole were narrowly beaten by the eventual winner but both depots emerged from the competition with immense credit for getting into the final three. Wayne Nickless, Pirelli Marketing Director was delighted with the high standard of scores, “The constant evaluation and auditing that our PPC’s go through, results in a network that truly reflects the high performance ethos of the Pirelli Brand. Congratulations must go to Protyre Bristol for being the best of the best and becoming our first ever PPC of the Year”.

Falken Launches ZE 912

January saw the launch of Falken’s new ZE 912, which is exclusively distributed by Micheldever Tyres in the UK. In addition to the performance benefits that the new asymmetrical tread pattern has to offer, the Falken ZE 912 also includes a new tread wear indicator and is said to be “proving a great success with the Falken dealer network.” Bob Thomas from Grove Street Tyres Wantage commented: “The new 912 has proved very popular with our customers,” adding: “The new asymmetric pattern is really eye catching and combined with the FK452, Falkens UHP offering makes it an easy brand to retail”.
The ZE912 was designed exclusively in Japan by Sumitomo, the sixth largest tyre manufacturer in the world, and is produced in their Brand new, state of the art factory in Rayong. The ZE912 benefits from Sumitomo’s SUN manufacturing system which provides a continuous band around the centre of the tyre which provides greater high speed stability. With 81 sizes ranging from 165/60 HR12 through to 265/35 WR18, the Falken ZE912 has one of the most comprehensive portfolios in the mid-range sector giving Falken dealers fitments for virtually every vehicle fitted with asymmetric tyres as original equipment over the past few years. Many sizes are also extra load.
The ZE912 also benefits from the unique “special eye” wear indicator. Located at even intervals around the tyre 16 “Special Eyes” inform the driver of tyre wear. Starting life as a circle when the tyre reaches a third worn the circle becomes a square and when the eye disappears completely there is a third of the tread remaining. Gareth White from Discount Tyres Newport said: “The magic eye has proved a real safety benefit when selling the tyre. It allows the driver to easily monitor tread wear and will also help to prevent premature replacement by identifying miss-alignment at an early stage”.
